Ok, ecco ora l’intervista :
Carson City seems to have met a good success in Essen: can you confirm that ? How many copies were printed ? CC was a great succes. The first printrun consisted of 5000 copies.
How did you decide to set the game in the old west ? Was it a designer’s idea or yours ? The game always had a western theme. Originally it was called Kansas City but since there are no mountains near Kansas City and their our mountains in the game, we had to find another name: Carson City.
Can you tell us something about how you choose the graphic for the game ? Alexandre Roche did the artwork of the game and he has done a wonderful job.
How much time have you been working on this project ? I worked for about 1,5 years on the project, quite intensely. It took Xavier more than 9 years of work.
The dice roll – shooting rule seems to introduce a luck factor in the game : how the players are reacting ? Was it present in the original set of rules or is it a late add-on? The dice were present in the original rules. We introduced later a variant of the game with less luck (‘The might is right’). In this variant duel tiles are used.
Are other expansions (small or big) scheduled ? No. There was a bonuscard for Essen called the Indian, nothing more.
Will we have an italian edition of the game ? Do you have such kind of agreement ? Will italian rules be available soon ? I cannot say anything about this yet.
How things goes for a game producer in your country (Holland) ? In there a culture of boardgame ? A boardgame of success how many copies can hope to sell there ? Normal people think (as in Italy ..) that it’s simply synonym of Monopoly or Risk or have they larger culture about this world ? In holland there is a group of people who love to play boardgames, although the majority of people probably willl cling to Monopoly and Risk.
Is it hard to be a producer of games for a living ? How many copies sells every year your house ? I am not working as a game producer. It is just a kind of hobby for me. My brother is a docter and I am a lawyer.
